Q: What is SYNCING.NET?
A: SYNCING.NET is a synchronization tool for any data folder (like documents, images, audio files etc.) and for Microsoft Outlook folders (e-mails, contacts, tasks, calendar, etc.) across multiple computers with Windows 2000 to Vista. You can share and synchronize files and Outlook items with colleagues and friends or just between your laptop and your desktop PC.
Q: What is peer-to-peer?
A: Peer-to-peer is a direct connection (network) among different computers (peers), where all have access to shared data: all peers in the network can create new sharing data or change sharing data without access to a server.
Q: Which license options are there for SYNCING.NET?
A: SYNCING.NET is available in 3 Editions:
Every edition is available in two lisense options: As subscription one-year-lisense (pay-per-year) and as perpetual lisense (pay-once). In every case you need a separate lisense for every member of a synchronization network:
Q: Can I upgrade from former versions?
A: Yes, you can. Please notice our Upgrade-Site.
Very important: If you upgrade from version 1.x to version 2.0 you have to uninstall the former installation and to delete you networks and settings by the uninstaller tool. Then you have to create your network new in the new version! You can not use both versions on the same computer!
Q: What are the system requirements for SYNCING.NET?
A:
PC with Pentium class CPU (800 MHz or above)
256 MB RAM (512 MB recommended)
MS Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003/2008 oder Vista
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 or above
Internet connection (broadband and flatrate recommended)
For Outlook synchronization: MS Outlook 2000, XP (2002), 2003 or 2007
Q: How can I install and use SYNCING.NET?
A: Look here for the suitable setup file. You will get support during the installation and configuration by the Quick Start Guide and the PDF-Manuals.
Q: Does SYNCING.NET install any spyware or adware?
A: There are NO spyware, adware or third party applications included with SYNCING.NET.
Q: How does SYNCING.NET work?
A: Since you install SYNCING.NET and create a synchronization network (SyncNetwork) for the desired partners or your own computers, it connects all invited computers in a peer-to-peer network in order to share your specified file folders and MS Outlook folders and keep them synchronized.
Q: Does SYNCING.NET work with older Outlook versions (97/98) or Outlook Express?
A: No, you need Outlook 2000 or higher in order to use SYNCING.NET. Outlook Express is not supported. Of course you can still use SYNCING.NET for file synchronization.
Q: Does synchronization by SYNCING.NET work via internet or – as many other Outlook sync solutions – only on a local network (LAN)?
A: SYNCING.NET is primary developed and optimized for internet synchronization. It works everywhere where an internet access is available. You don't need VPN! Of course, you can use SYNCING.NET also on a local network, where it even works much faster.
Q: What happens if I am on (business) trip and no internet access is available?
A: This is not a problem! Changes made offline are stored locally on your hard drive and will be synchronized with the other peers as soon as you are online again.
Q: Is SYNCING.NET secure?
A: SYNCING.NET is a secure peer-to-peer system. Only you and your invited members can view or access files in your SyncNetwork. SYNCING.NET encrypts all files and messages exchanged on your network to ensure user privacy. All P2P communication on SYNCING.NET is authenticated via RSA and additionally encrypted via AES over SSL.
Q: [ONLY RELEVANT FOR VERSION 1.x] I got the error message "OLWatch-Addin not started! Application is closed now!", what can I do?
A: Please check on this computer, if the Outlook element from SYNCING.NET is installed correctly and activated:
Q: Which service includes support?
A: We offer you free support via email. Furthermore, you can use our support forum to find a solution for your problem or you can call our support hotline. Please note that the hotline is only available on certain times of the day. Which they are, you can find on our support page.
Q: How often new versions will be released?
A: Approximately every 2-3 months. If we find critical errors, we will launch a hotfix immediately.
