SYNCING.NET with new, clearer descriptions
July 30, 2009
July is drawing to a close and we have added some interface and software updates to our current version 2.7. If you recently downloaded it, then you have probably noticed the changes in the interface. We have also cleaned up some bugs and increased our compatibility with firewalls.
The biggest change, however, was made to the SYNCING.NET terminology used when creating a synchronized connection between computers. What we originally called an Outlook Network is now an “Outlook Group” and what we called a Filesharing Networks is now a “Sync Folder”.
A variety of usability tests have shown that there was some confusion during the initial setup of SYNCING.NET. This was largely due to the various interpretations of exactly what a Network is and what it means in regards to synchronizing data. We hope that this change in terminology will go a long way towards helping our customers use our software more efficiently.
Here are the definitions:
Outlook Group
Synchronization of one or more Outlook folders (e.g. Inbox, Sent Items, Calendars, Contact) with your own PCs or with other SYNCING.NET users.
Sync Folder
Synchronization of one Windows folder (with all its files and sub-folders) with your own PCs or with other SYNCING.NET users.
